Dr. Chan is a medical retina subspecialist and general ophthalmologist. He studied medicine at the University of Sydney graduating with first class honours and obtaining the Renwick and University of Sydney Academic merit prize. He subsequently completed ophthalmology training in the Sydney Eye Hospital network, which provided him with experience in managing ocular diseases in both metropolitan and regional settings. After completing this, Dr. Chan underwent a further year of training specifically in medical retinal diseases including, but not limited to age related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and retinal vein occlusions at Westmead Hospital.
Prior to commencing his medical training, Dr. Chan was clinical optometrist, which has given him a unique holistic approach in managing ocular pathology.
Dr. Chan has several publications in well-regarded peer reviewed journals in Ophthalmology and Cardiology. He has completed a Masters of Philosophy degree at the University of Sydney based on his research on glaucoma progression.
Dr. Chan is a conjoint associate lecturer at the University of Sydney and participates in teaching medical and optometry students as well as ophthalmology registrars. Outside of work, Dr. Chan enjoys spending time with his young family, watching cricket and playing table tennis.
